Bank One, Dallas Cowboys Create Winning Combination
BANC ONE Retail Group Chairman and CEO Kenneth T. Stevens said, "Whenever you can combine a winning element -- whether an individual, a team, a company or a product -- with another winning element, both get an extra boost."
The extra boost for the bank will come in name association with the five- time world champion Dallas Cowboys -- the NFL team whose merchandise marketing record is greater than all others combined.
Among the perks are broadcast and print advertising. Radio and television commercials are available to Bank One during special broadcasts, such as the pre-season game broadcasts, the (Cowboy owner) Jerry Jones Show, The Coach's Show and the Post-Game Show. Print advertising includes the Cowboys Weekly, GameDay Magazine, Cowboys Magazine and the Cowboys Bluebook.
Already changes around Texas Stadium reflect Bank One's sponsorship. Whenever eyes glance at a scoreboard, they'll see the bank's logo. It's also splashed around the stadium in various other locations. And even outside, drivers on the heavily traveled freeways surrounding the stadium will see billboards touting Bank One as the Cowboys' Bank. Stevens said the company has been considering a venture with the football franchise for several years. "Now the combination is right and the time is right," he said.
In addition to the signage, advertising and tie-in collateral with Texas Stadium, Bank One is creating a Dallas Cowboys value-added banking package that will be available this summer. On-site sales and promotional opportunities will dot Texas Stadium. Bank One's Marketing Department will continue to develop new and unique ways to combine the bank and the Cowboys through media broadcasts, advertising and news items.
The Cowboys partnership is just the latest in a string of ventures Bank One has developed with professional sports organizations. Bank One is the official bank of the Cincinnati Reds, the Colorado Rockies and the long- awaited Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball. When the Diamondbacks begin official play next year, it will be in Bank One Ballpark. The company also has ties to the National Basketball Association's Dallas Mavericks and the Indiana Pacers and the National Football League's Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts.
