Bank One Names Gail SVP and Deputy General Counsel

Bank One Names Gail SVP and Deputy General Counsel CHICAGO, Aug. 29, 2000 -- BANK ONE CORPORATION today announced that Leonard A. Gail has joined the company as senior vice president and deputy general counsel.

He will report to Chief Legal Officer Christine A. Edwards and have responsibility for the Litigation and Regulatory group in the Law, Compliance and Government Relations Department.

“Lenny has won high marks in representing a number of corporations across several industries at both the trial and appellate level,” Edwards said. “That litigation experience and his skills will further enhance our strong in-house staff.”

Gail, 36, has been a partner with Bartlit Beck Herman Palencher & Scott in Chicago since 1993. He was an associate at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago from 1989 to 1993 and, before that, was a clerk for James B. Moran, the former chief judge of U.S. District Court in Chicago.

“I look forward to moving to the corporate side and being able to focus all my attention on behalf of one company,” Gail said. “I also look forward to working with Bank One’s legal staff, which has earned a reputation for high-quality work.”

Gail earned his law degree cum laude from Harvard University in 1988 and a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1985.
