Bank One Names Jay Mandelbaum To Head Strategy and Business Development CHICAGO, Aug. 8, 2002 – BANK ONE CORPORATION (NYSE: ONE) today announced that Jay Mandelbaum, 39, will join the company as Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, reporting to Bank One Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon. Mandelbaum, formerly vice chairman and CEO of the Private Client Group of Salomon Smith Barney, will also serve as a member of the Planning Group, the company’s executive management team.

“Jay has an extraordinarily wide breadth of experience in strategy and management of complex financial institutions,” said Dimon. “He is one of the best people I’ve ever seen at converting strategy into execution. Jay has worked extensively with many members of our senior management team over the years, and we are delighted to welcome someone with his analytical abilities and strength of character into our company.”

Mandelbaum joined Primerica, which eventually became Citigroup, in 1992 to head corporate development, reporting to Dimon. He went on to serve as Chief Administrative Officer of Smith Barney Shearson, and head of Sales and Marketing for Salomon Smith Barney. Before joining Primerica, Mandelbaum spent six years with McKinsey & Company. He holds an undergraduate degree from Princeton University and a master’s degree from Harvard Business School.
