President, CEO in Wisconsin
Greig, 43, will have primary responsibility for commercial customer relationships throughout Wisconsin. Greig managed commercial activities in Wisconsin and a substantial portion of the Chicago market for American National Bank, a Bank One Company, until late 1997. He began his career with the bank in 1978 in Chicago.
For the last 18 months, Greig has managed the bank's consumer banking network in the Chicago area and northwest Indiana, which includes 240 branches and 1,000 ATMs. During his career, he also has served on senior management and senior loan committees. In addition, he has contributed to the growth of American National Bank's branch network and has managed commercial business development efforts and a group of core commercial banking divisions.
"Customers will continue to receive the high-quality service they have come to expect from Bank One, and they now can access a wider range of commercial banking products," Greig said. "We also will continue to work with our customers to help our communities prosper."
Greig is currently treasurer and on the executive committee of Illinois State Chamber of Commerce, on the boards of directors of the Junior Achievement in Chicago, and the Duncan YMCA in Chicago. He plans to have significant involvement in community and civic activities in Wisconsin.
Bank One's merger with First Chicago NBD in late 1998 has expanded the commercial banking products available to Wisconsin businesses to include more cash management and capital-raising expertise.
Greig succeeds William Read, who is leaving the bank to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors. Read initially will focus his time as Chairman of the Board of The Wag-Aero Group and on other potential acquisitions. In 1995, he and his wife purchased Wag-Aero, a manufacturer and distributor of aircraft parts, based in Lyons, Wis. Read, who will serve on the boards of several Wisconsin businesses, joined Bank One's predecessor company, The Marine Corporation, in 1985.
Bank One, Wisconsin, is headquartered in Milwaukee and is a subsidiary of BANK ONE CORPORATION (NYSE:ONE), the nation's 4th largest bank holding company.
